Routine Dental Exam & Check Up

What is Dental Check-up?

A typical dental exam will include cleanings by a hygienist, x-rays at regular intervals, and an examination of your mouth by a dentist. During the cleaning or Dental Check-up: You or your child will sit in a large chair. A bright overhead light will shine above you. Then your dental exam will begin.

How often do I need a dental check-up?

You may assume you should have a dental check-up every 3 months, but some people may not need to go so often and others may need more frequent checks. The time between check-ups can vary from 3 months to 2 years, depending on how healthy your teeth and gums are and your risk of future problems. Regular dental visits are important because they help to keep your teeth and gums healthy. During the dental check up, your dental professional will check your overall oral health for any trouble areas. During the cleaning, your dental professional will remove any plaque and tartar buildup and may polish your teeth.

Importance of dental checkup:

At the three-month dental checkup and cleaning, the dentist will check for signs of tooth decay or gum disease. The dentist will then perform immediate treatment. At these routine office visits, the dentist will also look for possible areas where tooth decay and gum disease can form in the future
